Teams from three elementary schools competed in a reading tournament in the Tesago cafeteria on March 8. Shen Kids Read was modeled after the “Battle of the Books” competitions, and involved students answering questions about several books in a game show fashion. The teams were comprised of five 5th graders from Okte, Tesago, and Shatekon that had won their own respective school competitions. Their school library media specialists served as coaches, and the event was moderated by Skano librarian Susan Kirby LeMon.

Mrs. Coryer’s class was awarded this month’s Campbell’s soup trophy at Tesago. Each month a class receives the award with occasional antics with other classes hiding the trophy on the winning team. A community of good humor exists.

Tesago students in Kindergarten through Second Grade celebrated great stories and reading together at our second annual PARP Pajama Story Night. Grandma Tippytoes, our librarian, our principal and all of our K-2 teachers preformed some awesome stories and songs for the kids. A fun time was had by all!

Students in Mrs. Beidl’s first grade class recently presented their bat research projects to family and friends. They worked hard in the library media center and classroom to find answers to their “burning questions” and research these very interesting animals. Nice job first graders!

Mrs. Scavone’s science classes get into nutrition by singing their way to healthy eating! They shared their knowledge with some of the primary students and will continue sharing with the Tesago community by making new healthy food items, some of which will be made in the Tesago cafeteria. The Tesago 4th and 5th Grade Chorus will be performing in the Tesago ChorusWMHT-PBS production of Music for the Holidays 2011. They were selected to be one of 18 choirs from the Capital District to be featured on the program.

There will be a BROOKS BBQ on Thursday, November 17th from 3:00-6:00pm in the Tesago Cafeteria. This is a fundraiser for the award-winning Tesago Chorus and Select Chorus. Eat-in or drive through at the front of the school.
