Traditionally, November and
December are months
when
people turn their thoughts to giving. Many Arongen students and
staff are fortunate to have all that they need to be happy and
healthy, but we recognize that there are others who have needs.
For the 23rd consecutive year, we will promote a school-wide
project. The theme of this endeavor is Arongen-Giving and Growing.
All grade levels will participate in this project.
This activity will take the place of classroom grab bags and gift
exchange between students and teachers. Although we appreciate the
students’ thoughtful gifts at this time of year, we are requesting
that families focus on our school-wide project rather than
purchasing gifts for individual teachers. Our PTA honors us each
spring with a wonderful luncheon, which always makes us feel
special.
For November, all students will have the opportunity to help stuff
a turkey by contributing change that will be “fed” to a friendly
Thanksgiving bird. All donations will go to the Jonesville Food
Pantry. We are told that each dollar donated will provide 5 meals
to a hungry family. This will run from November 8th through
November 23rd. Turkeys hung outside the cafeteria will grow
feathers as contributions are collected. November 23rd is Turkey
Day, everyone dress in brown and bring in spare change to “stuff”
the turkey.
We will be collecting items for our “Giving Trees” to donate to
CAPTAIN for the Youth Outreach Center and the Emergency Shelter.
New items are needed for infants through 18-year-olds. They may be
placed under the artificial trees located in the main entrances.
This program will run from November 30 – December 16th . Each
grade level has been assigned a specific category to collect as
follows:
Kindergarten-–socks/slippers 3rd grade—hats
1st grade—underwear 4th grade—scarves
2nd grade—gloves 5th grade—toiletries
Your continued support is very much appreciated. It is our wish
that through giving, Arongen students will grow in their
understanding of the needs of children less fortunate than
themselves. We hope that this year’s Giving and Growing project
will be as successful as those in the past and wish all of our
Arongen families a joyous and safe holiday season!

The new 1000-foot
ADA-compliant trail that links the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public
Library to the Arongen Elementary School and Wall Street near the
Southern Saratoga Y was officially opened in
September. With this new trail, residents can now walk to
or bike from anywhere along the Moe Road trail system to the Exit
9 commercial area.
The new trail is a partnership between the town, library and
school district. The school district built the part of the trail
from Arongen to Wall Street using grant money
from NYS DOT, the town built the section from the library
to Arongen and the library donated the property for public
right-of-way use.
The ribbon cutting took place Arongen
elementary school students and faculty.
